JUBILEE SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED So much to enjoy

A packed schedule has been announced for the Love Northallerton Right Royal Extravaganza on Sunday 5 June.

The Platinum Jubilee celebrations in the town-centre includes a full afternoon of stage entertainment featuring singers Mark Allen and Beth Clarke, Northallerton Silver Band and Northallerton Musical Theatre Company.

There will also be a display of classic cars, two traction engines and two walkabout ‘princesses’, specially to entertain children.

“We have something for everyone in this warm royal tribute to Her Majesty,” says Graham Bell, manager of organisers Northallerton Business Improvement District (BID).

“Our performers will be celebrating her 70 years on the throne with hits through the decades – everything from Vera Lynn classics to jazz numbers and modern, dance-along favourites.”

Newcastle-based Beth has a particular passion for jazz and swing music and cites Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day and Frank Sinatra as key influencers.

Mark, who has performed alongside Gareth Gates, Blue, Atomic Kitten, Hear’Say and Liberty X, won the prestigious Regal Fame Game before being named the North of England’s Act of the Year.

Northallerton Musical Theatre will perform their own show-stoppers, including songs from the Queen’s favourite musicals such as Oklahoma, South Pacific, The King and I and The Wizard of Oz.

They’ll finish with some wartime favourites such as We’ll Meet Again, White Cliffs of Dover, When the Lights Go On Again. My Girl’s a Yorkshire Girl and Consider Yourself from Oliver.

BBC Radio York will be covering the event live on-air from 10am to 2pm.

As additional attraction, an auto jumble will be held in the Mowbray Suite at the Golden Lion Hotel.
